cur = dog: part of sablemoonsilk's answer.
werewolf = person in day/wolf (dog) AT NIGHT! = mongrel at night
therefore: dark mongrel.

*laughs* pretty good, actually, especially building off sablemoonsilk's answer. But wolves are pretty much by definition not curs or mongrels, which are mixed breeds.
And the "basilisk cur" part does have to do with HP. But it's not the only part of dark mongrel that is important. In addition, the basilisk cur is not always a mongrel, and, Shannon, he has more to do with darkness than just nighttime.

Basilisk cur would've been my guess too...although technically he'd be purebred, not a mongrel.

Wait, how much does this have to do with Harry Potter? Or is it a separate character of yours?..if so I'm lost.

This...is not independent of the Harry Potter series, but the connections are connections Kaiya created, that are surprisingly appropriate to who the Dark Mongrel truly is. The Dark Mongrel is real, at least to me.
Consider the meanings of dark...complexion, magic, names--for the Basilisk Cur only, anti-heros, and, of course, the color black.
Think about mongrel...something that isn't pure, but a mixture of things, that may not be respected for its lack of purity but is stronger for it.
